The MLB Draft was last week and the Brewers get an A+ rating from me. Milwaukee drafted four outfielders, five infielders, two catchers, and ten pitchers. The third round draft pick was a top twenty prospect at the beginning of the season. He had a bad start of the season so he dropped down. They also scooped up a 3rd baseman who was raised in Wisconsin. The five infielders positions are 2 2nd baseman, 2 short stops, and 1 3rd baseman. The Brewers drafted two catchers, which one of them will play first base most likely. In the first two days they took all college players. On the third day, there was a run of high schoolers. Milwaukee was smart with their draft because they added depth everywhere and our farm system needed it.
The Brewers are suppose to bring their top two pitching prospects to the Majors by the end of the year. David Stearns made sure he replenished the pitching depth and made it deeper. I like seeing the Brewers draft college players because they should be more polished. Doug Melvin had something against drafting college players, who knows why?. The success we have had in the past few years is because of the drafting Stearns has done, and Counsell’s managing.
If you read about the players, the Brewers drafted, you should be impressed. Milwaukee knows what they need and they sure went out and drafted it. My final thought is Good Job Milwaukee.
