Wednesday night the Brewers trade Freddy Peralta and Tobias Harris for two Mets players. In return, the Brewers got Jett Williams, an infielder, and Brandon Sproat, a pitcher. They are both top five prospects in the Mets organization. This is a typical Brewers move, you sell high to get young talent. Milwaukee has a history of this. This has happened before with Josh Hader, Devin Williams, and Corbin Burnes. The Brewers are a small market team and have decided, that this is the way to stay competitive with the Cubs and Cardinals. I am not one to question what Matt Arnold does, they have made the playoffs on a regular basis. It still stings because Peralta will go down in Brewer history, as one of the best pitchers.
Tobias Harris is a good pitcher, but he wasn’t guaranteed to be in the starting rotation. They must believe that Brandon Sproat will end up being a starting pitcher in the future. Jett Williams is a good prospect. He will probably be a starting infielder, but could end up in the outfield. I think time will tell if this was the right move, we won’t know for a few years. Let’s hope it is the correct move.
