Last Thursday Brian Gutekunst traded Davante Adams to Las Vegas. The Packers received two draft picks for this year. They get the Raiders first round pick #22 and also get their second round pick #53. I was hoping for a 2023 second or third round pick to be thrown in, since Adams is the best receiver in the NFL. Green Bay now has four picks in the first sixty picks of 2022 draft. Gutekunst needs to get one or two wide receivers in free agency plus one or two in the draft. The Packers don’t really have a number one receiver on the team, as we speak. There are a lot of good free agents out there, that could be, and some in the draft as well.
The best wide receiver free agent out there is Jarvis Landry, which Green Bay needs to sign. Mel Kiper has said. “That this is a very deep draft class for receivers”. There are four to six that I could see going in the first round next month. Now none of these guys can replace what Adams did with Rodgers, but hopefully they can become as good as he was. I am hoping that Gutekunst uses the 22nd pick on a wideout. The ideal guy is Chris Olave from Ohio State or Drake Londan from USC.
Davante Adams was a great Wide Receiver, but finically it made sense, since the Packers were forty Million over the Cap. It’s going to take a while for Packer fans to get use to not seeing Rodgers to Adams touchdowns, but we will. Aaron Rodgers is a very good quarterback, so he should not have trouble completing passes, if we draft talented players. He still has Randall Cobb to throw to as well.
My final thought is the Packers should still win the NFC North and make a push in the playoffs.
