Wisconsin traveled to champagne Tuesday night to face Illinois. The Badgers came out hot and grabbed an eight point lead early. They were about to go up by ten, when we turned the ball over. Illinois came back after that and took the lead, which they held going into the second half. Wisconsin did put up a fight in the first half and were only losing by six at halftime.
The second half started and the Badgers took a one point lead. Illinois fought back took the lead but Wisconsin would always stay in reach, with four minutes left the Badgers made a real push. They were up eight with less than two minutes, but then Boyd and Blackwell both made errors. Illini took advantage and tied the game with thirty two seconds on the clock. Boyd took the ball down passed it to Blackwell and he missed the three pointer, forcing overtime.
In overtime, Wisconsin took the lead first, but then Illinois came back. It started to become a seesaw game. The Badgers finally went up six. The only thing Wisconsin had to do was not make boneheaded mistakes like Indiana. Illinois did get it down to two, after that Blackwell got fouled and went to the free throw line with less than 10 seconds. John made the first and missed the second on purpose. Illini players got the rebound and missed a three point shot with no time remaining. The two big scorers in the game were Nick Boyd with 25 points and John Blackwell with 24 points.
