Last Friday, Wisconsin hired Bobby Engram to be their next offensive coordinator. Bobby worked under Paul Chryst for two years at Pitt, as the wide receiver coach. When he was at Pitt, he coached Tyler Boyd. Tyler Boyd is playing in the Super Bowl next Sunday. The last eight seasons, Bobby was the wide receiver and tight end coach, for the Ravens. Durning that time he coached some great players. He played for fourteen years in the NFL for multiple teams. Bobby was a second round pick of Chicago and is one of their best receivers of all time. Before he played in the NFL, he played at Penn State, where he is the leader in yards and receptions. Engram was the very first Biletnikoff Award winner too.
His son Dean plays at Wisconsin as a wide receiver. Dean is a junior. He played defensive back for his first two years. Bobby said he is very excited to coach his son. Engram has a lot of knowledge he can pass on to Badger players. People don’t know if he is going to call the plays on Saturday. They are also wondering what position he will coach. Wisconsin already has a receiver and tight end coach. Overall, Wisconsin fans should like what Bobby can bring to the offense.
We might see Mertz running some option this year to keep defenses on their toes. It should open more room for Allen. Paul Chryst will have more time to coach Mertz with the load taken off, because of Engram. Graham should have a better year passing too. I will leave you with this last thought. Wisconsin finally has an offensive coordinator.
On Wisconsin!!
