The Brewers are in first place in the NL Central. They also have the third best record in the National League. Milwaukee’s hitting has been better this year, but it’s the pitching which is winning the games. Even with the injuries to Freddy Peralta and now Brandon Woodruff on the IL, we still have won games with rookie pitchers. Last night the Brewers had a double header with the Cubs. The two starting pitchers for those games were Ethan Small and Aaron Ashby. Ethan Small could not get out of the fourth inning, but still looked good. It was his first game in the majors too, so I can give him a pass. In the second game Aaron Ashby struck out twelve batters and looked great. The Brewers won both games.
This just proves how deep our pitching depth is and how good they can be. Our Bullpen is one of the best also, which helps our starting pitchers. Burnes won the Cy Young award last year and has picked up where he left off. Adrian Houser is becoming another household name for the Brewers. Eric Lauer has made the biggest jump of them all. A few years ago the Brewers were asking the starters to give them five innings and then they would turn it over to the bullpen. Now each one of their pitchers are capable of throwing complete games and no hitters.
Overall, I think Milwaukee has the best Pitching staffs in the MLB. Their bullpen is just as great too. It’s no surprise why the Brewers are in first. We start the game throwing out Burnes, Lauer, Houser or any of the starters. We end the game with Williams and Hader. There is no better way to start and end a game.
