Graham Mertz Savior or Bust?

Graham Mertz was the highest quarterback recruit in Wisconsin football history. Last year even though it was a short year, he showed a glimpse of greatness. Graham threw for two hundred and forty eight yards and five touchdowns in his first game and also completed 21-22 passes. Wisconsin had injury problems, at wide receiver, in 2020. Kendrick Pryor and Danny Davis both went out after the second game. He had to rely mostly on freshmen, so that hurt his numbers. When he had Pryor and Davis he looked like a world beater, who could win the Heisman Trophy. At the end of the season, he got Covid-19 and also got injured so we didn’t get to see what he could fully achieve. The 2021 season will be a good test for him, especially starting against Penn State.

The fans should have some clarity, by the end of the year, to see what we have in him. If he can play like he did in the first two games, we will go 10-2 or 11-1. The Badgers have a more talented receiving core this year, which will help him achieve great things. When I look at what he did in High school and his first two games he started, he could and probably will get Wisconsin to the Playoffs. Every college football season always throws a curveball at teams, so if he stays healthy and his running backs play well, plus has a good receiving core, he will be a savior. My prediction is he will have: 2500-3500 passing yards and 15-30 touchdowns with 6 ints.

I know those are big stats, but I believe in this guy and think we are a playoff team, if we beat those Ohio State Buckeyes.
